During late October in 2017 I drove the 6 hour trip from my cabin close to the Grand Canyon to Joshua Tree National Park in California. Starting slightly later in the morning due to being out late in to the night photographing the Milky Way over the Grand Canyon I arrived at Joshua Tree around 2pm with just enough time to scout out a few locations. Taking inspiration from film photographer Nick Carver I decided in advance that I wanted to pick out the unusual Joshua Tree’s one by one using a 70-200mm zoom lens rather than using a wide angle lens. I spent around 3x hours in total walking around the park until the light dipped low and below are a selection of some of my favourite images…
