The start of my Hasselblad 'Xpan Travels' series where I film what i'm shooting whilst out on the streets of Copenhagen. In this 1st episode I shoot with motion picture film (expired) Fuji Eterna 250D, Kodak Vision 250D and Kodak Portra 160 on the #HasselbladXpan . The Hasselblad Xpan is a #35mmfilm camera that shoots in standard 3:2 and 24:65 panoramic aspect ratios. The panoramic shooting format is close to the 21/9 CinemaScope aspect ratio that wide screen movies are shot in and when you pair the camera up with some 35mm motion picture film like Kodak Vision or Fuji Eterna, in my opinion there is no camera that has ever been produced that can quite match the cinematic look that the Xpan produces. The frames quite simply look like stills from an old 1980’s movie.

Vol 1: Shooting the Hasselblad XPan at Venice Beach

In this #FilmPhotography Youtube episode I use the #HasselbladXpan loaded with Kodak Portra 400 to photograph the basketball players and skaters at Venice Beach on a foggy day. Later in the day I take a walk along to Santa Monica Pier to shoot the last of the roll once the fog had cleared. The video includes a walk about of how I photographed the day, my resulting film scans from the #streetphotography session and tips on how to manually focus film cameras whilst shooting fast action sports.
